Deepinder Goyal and Navil Noronha: a study in contrasting exits
And what that says about how far Eternal can push its norm-defying acts
When The Ken launched its first podcast in 2021, there was plenty to figure out when it came to creating audio products for our subscribers.
I’ve heard my colleagues’ recollections about it—the group effort to figure out how to tell spoken stories, the process of developing scripts, and the decision to put more resources into making new podcasts.
Much has changed since then. We now have a flagship show that runs from Monday to Friday, plus a raft of premium podcasts that cover a wide range of subject matter, presented in different formats. This means that every weekday, there’s something new from The Ken’s podcast team for listeners located anywhere in the world, plus exclusive content for subscribers of our Premium plan.
Until now, many of our listeners accessed The Ken’s podcasts through our app, but we know many of you live on Spotify. It’s where your playlists are and where your saved episodes are queued up. It’s your first stop when you’re ready to listen to something new.
The Ken is the first organisation in India to integrate Spotify Open Access, a distribution system that is available only for the audio platform’s approved partners. With this, all of The Ken’s Premium plan subscribers have the option to access our full catalogue of podcasts on Spotify—including all paywalled episodes.
This integration will let The Ken meet podcast lovers where you already are. We want our audio journalism to fit into your routine—whether you’re commuting, working out, taking a break at work, cooking dinner, or doing anything else that lets you put your headphones on.

It takes less than 30 seconds to link your accounts at The Ken and Spotify:
1. Visit one of The Ken’s premium podcasts on Spotify—
2. Click on the lock icon on any paywalled episode.
3. Click “Link Account”.
4. Sign in to
5. Click “Agree” to give your consent to link your accounts on The Ken and Spotify.
That’s it! All of our premium podcast content will be unlocked for you. You’ll be able to listen to the full slate of our audio offerings.
The Ken’s integration of Spotify Access reflects our goal of making subscription journalism as widely accessible and user-friendly as possible.
This is another way to reduce the distance between our journalistic efforts and you, our readers and listeners. It also reflects our belief that great journalism should be easy to access for those who support it. Adding Spotify to our distribution channels is one more way for us to demonstrate that belief.
Of course, if you’ve been listening on Apple Podcasts, you can keep doing that—nothing changes.
We’re grateful for our subscribers’ continued support, and we’re excited to make your listening experience even more convenient than before.
