Good morning [%first_name |Dear Reader%],
Dear reader, it’s a new Sunday and here we are. How are you? I hope you had a nice week. I certainly did. It was one of those weeks which was hectic and overwhelming, but ultimately, as you reflect over the weekend, deeply fulfilling.
But it’s Sunday now. We’re allowed to “waste” our time. So it’s only appropriate that I share the song that’s playing for me right now. It’s “Waste” by Phish. (It was also featured in our Reflective Sundays FP playlist.)
Don’t wanna be a farmer workin’ in the sun
Don’t wanna be an outlaw, always on the run
Don’t wanna be a climber reachin’ for the top
Don’t wanna be anything where I don’t know when to stop
A dream, it’s true
But I’d see it through
If I could be (If I could be)
Wasting my time with you
So if I’m inside your head
Don’t believe what you might have read
You’ll see what I might have said
To hear it
Come waste your time with me
So, let’s waste some time together. 😇
I was at the beautiful Joka campus of the Indian Institute of Management–Calcutta a few weeks ago. I graduated from there in 2001, which was—and this never ceases to amaze me—23 years ago.
Back on campus, when companies would visit, we’d wonder in amazement at some of the “super seniors” who had graduated decades ago. I am that cohort now.
One of my classmates from back then, who’s now a Professor there, was kind enough to give me an indulgent walking tour of the still lush and resplendent campus. Thanks Priya!
Thanks to her, I managed to catch a glimpse of one of the elusive monitor lizards that are residents there too.
Okay, enough indulgence! Let’s take you through what we have for you this monsoon Sunday.
1. First impressions and momentum
2.

I enjoy reading The Ken because it is informative, the articles are well researched, well written, without the spin and bias. I admire The Ken team for their dedication to getting closer to the true picture.

Transparent, Honest, Detailed. To me, The Ken has been this since the day I subscribed to them. The research that they put into each story and the way it is presented is thoroughly interesting. Personally, I’ve always had a great time interacting with the publication and reading the stories.

The Ken has proven naysayers wrong by successfully running a digital news publication on a pure-subscription business model in India. They have shown that discerning readers are willing to pay for well-researched, well-written, in-dept news articles.

As a designer, it’s easy to get lost in the craft of building products. As a business owner however, keeping up with a rapidly changing landscape is key to saying relevant. The Ken doesn’t just help me stay on top of what’s happening in India(and beyond), but makes it fun to do so.
